We are in the process of establishing a barite mining and milling company with the intention of meeting the needs of Oil drilling companies in Nigeria and West Africa. The Nigerian government has banned the importation of barite in Nigeria to boost local production capacity. But the local miners are not able to meet the need for barite by drilling companies in Nigeria. The increasing demand for barite has led to drilling companies using barite of low specific gravity of between 3.8 to 4.0 for drilling. This has created the need for establishing a mining and drilling company. We are currently buying crude barite from small scale miners and its takes a fairly long time to mine and process the barite. We want to mine and process ourselves so that we can meet the local consumption needs here and also export to other West African companies.
Our concept is to operate several mines across the nation and process centrally in a location and distribute from there to companies within and outside Nigeria. There are barite mining locations in the southern and northern parts of Nigeria.
We are proposing a partnership where we can come together and agree on each others level of involvement and commitment and explore opportunities together. The primary or initial requirements are thus; getting the mining sites, the license, mining equipments, trucks, setting up the mill with a standard laboratory, qualified personnel, the land etc. However, we can provide the land where the mill will be set up while we discuss other requirements. The land is about 17 plots of land measuring about 100msq x 100msq per plot. The land is located in the industrial area in Owerri, Imo State of Nigeria.
There is a huge opportunity here for us, the government is encouraging investment in local content development and the documentations and conditions are not stringent now.
