Kavela is located on the backwaters in Kollam, Kerala (Gods Own Country), one of the most sought after destination in the world and listed by National Geography as one of the places of a lifetime to visit.
Foreign and Domestic tourist arrival for 2013 was 11.72 million. An average 7.5% increase in domestic and 11.5% increase in foreign tourist arrivals every year. According to WTTC Kerala needs more rooms to cater to the increased tourist flow.

The promoter of Kavela is Ramesh Narendran a graduate in Hotel Management from Ecole Hoteliere et tourism Hosta, Leysin, Switzerland with 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry in Europe, Africa and Asia and will have a hands on role in the management of the company, The promoter at present is the CEO of the Narendran Group, a family business involved in the manufacture and export of rubber floor mats.
